I have a used r85 and i just noticed when i looked down the hole on the compressor side the part that connects to the intercooler, i see bolts extending into the air path. They extend like 1/4" into the air passage. These bolts hold the compressor part to the center section. I would think this would hurt my performance. I was thinking of grinding the screw down or finding smaller length screws. Is this normal?

sounds like someone replaced them... with the wrong bolts...

Could i buy some new bolts for both sides from Kgparts, just to make sure they didn't do the same to the exhaust side. Is there anything i have to watch out for when taking off the bolts? I guess i can do one by one, then i don't have to worry about messing anything up. Is there any seals or what not that can get messed up when taking off the snail?

I dont have any here, however you should be able to pick them up locally no matter where you are. Just remove one for an example of thread pitch and length. if you cant find them locally, try a place like manhatan supply (http://www1.mscdirect.com/cgi/nnsrhm) or mcmaster (www.mcmaster.com)
you wont hurt anything by removing them.
